Qualifications of Our Caregivers

We know it is very difficult to let a caregiver in your home, exposing yourself and your possessions to a complete stranger! In many cases, a caregiver is often providing very intimate care, which can be very embarrassing. Trusting someone to come into a residence and provide personal care  is very difficult, so we do everything possible to qualify our caregivers and train them to be the best they can be. We underscore the importance of being sensitive to the care giving situation, the individual's personality, and special needs.

In order to work for Northwest Healthcare, Inc., all caregivers must meet the following requirements:

  • Have at least two positive work-related references

  • Have related experience and/or training, demonstrated by testing and competency

  • Have an adequate driving record, basic auto insurance, and a reliable car

  • Pass a criminal background check in every state she has lived or been employed in

  • Be willing to take and pass a 10 panel drug test

  • Be physically able to perform the duties required in the job, especially lifting

  • Be able to communicate well in English

  • Participate in ongoing training every year to keep skills current

In order to work as a home health aide, staff must:

  • Have a current CPR card

  • Be a certified or registered nursing assistant in Washington

  • Have advanced transfer skills

  • Possess nurse delegation training (for Home Health I).

To protect our customers and staff, we carry professional liability insurance, non-owned automobile insurance, and provide workers compensation coverage for all employees!
